Synopsis[]

Official synopsis for the episode Boston:[1]

A routine flight is disrupted by a routine fire, a routine lawsuit and a routine corpse.

Plot[]

MJN is chartered to fly a group of Americans to Boston. One of them, Mr. Leeman, turns out to be problematic, refusing to put out his cigarette and being so rude that he makes Martin cry. Martin eventually instructs Arthur to extinguish Mr. Leeman's cigarette with a fire extinguisher, giving him a heart attack.

Martin is then caught in indecision, with Carolyn urging him to continue to Boston, which is more convenient for the company, and Douglas urging him to divert the plane to Reykjavik, which would get Mr. Leeman to a hospital quicker. In between repeated changes of destination, Martin aggressively encourages a doctor onboard to help. While the irritated Dr. Price turns out to be a Doctor of Engineering, he does correctly identify Mr. Leeman's condition as 'dead.'

The crew land in Boston. Having been encouraged by Douglas to be more assertive, Martin convinces the first responder to deal with Mr. Leeman's body, single-handedly allowing MJN to get away in time for the next trip. High on confidence the next morning, Martin then talks himself into getting arrested at airport security, undoing any good he did the previous day.
